Introduction
Letter
This is the second letter about the
Science and History Museum presentations that both Fourth Grade Classes will be
presenting on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. As stated in the first letter, we know that
we have a lot of time before the due date, but we wanted to let the parents and
students know the basic requirements for the project now. We also know how busy some of our lives are
and that some of the students (and parents) would like to get an early start on
some of their research.
This past week the students have chosen
the people that they would like to portray for their presentations.

Here is a little bit more information
about the basic requirements of the project:
1.
Students must dress
the part of the person that he/she has chosen.
A 30 – 60 second speech must be given over the highlights of their
character. This will be written in
class, but the research needs to be done at home.
2. In addition to portraying his/her character during the
Science and
A stand-up, tri-fold poster board display for a background, with
information on the student’s person. The
poster displays must include illustrations, diagrams, timelines, or other
visual aids in addition to written text and labels. Text MUST be typed by the student in their
own words, NOT copied or photocopied form the Internet or other sources.
A three-dimensional,
student-created (not assembled) object that represents a facet of the person’s
life and/or his/her accomplishments.
3. Students MUST also
include a bibliography of the three sources used to collect information on this
person. Available sources include
textbooks, resource person (such as WWII veteran), Internet websites (websites
cannot be used as all three sources), encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers,
library books, videos, etc.
4.
Project size must conform to display space –
approximately 2 feet x 3 feet – about the size of a student desktop.
