Dear Parents,
Both 4th grade classes will be working on a sewing project over the next month; we will make soft, stuffed footballs. This idea was developed for many different reasons. First of all, it falls under the category of health; students receive a grade for this project. Second, students learn an important life skill: sewing. Finally, students learn about citizenship by selling these projects at the annual Secret Santa Shop. The money earned goes towards a field trip we will take this year. Although the PTO has graciously agreed to pay for class trips this year, the 4th grade takes many field trips and this helps to defray the cost. We need to start the projects this week, so both classes could use a little assistance. We have some supplies already, but we will need more materials soon. Here is a list of supplies we will need: fabric (fleece is nice if possible), thread, stuffing. We could also use help drawing patterns, cutting, and demonstrating/helping with the actual sewing. Mrs. Phelps will be helping tomorrow morning, but volunteers would be welcomed at other times as well. Please let Mrs. Retz or Mr. Spahr know if you are available.
